Sapienza carries out the mission of contributing to the development of a society of knowledge through research, excellence and quality education as well as international cooperation. It offers a wide range of fields of study that includes 370 first cycle and second cycle degrees and over 300 professional university masters (continuing education courses). It carries out scientific research in various fields, achieving high-standard results, which are acknowledged both on a national and an international level.
The branches involved cover every field of knowledge from pure science to technical branches and classical studies, historical, philosophic and economic-juridical subjects, from Sociology to Psychology, from Communication Sciences to Medicine.
University of Rome “Tor Vergata”
The University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’ is a public University, located in the South-Eastern suburb of Rome, established in 1981. It offers six degree courses (Humanities, Medicine, Engineering, Sciences, Economics and Law).With its 41.000 students, the University of Tor Vergata wishes to be distinguished as a residential university in which professors and students alike live in close contact in a stimulating environment for all. Thanks to its several international relations, it hosts many foreign students and researchers every year. The University of “Tor Vergata” is also one of the largest research-based institutions in Italy. In the 600-hectares-campus the University Hospital is located, which is well equipped with diagnostic and therapeutic vanguard structures and it is considered a flagship of the University.
University of Rome 3
 
Founded in 1992 as Rome’s third public university, Roma Tre has gained a significant reputation in the academic world thanks to its quality programs and international focus. Roma Tre offers degree courses in the Architecture, Economics, Education Sciences, Engineering, Law, Humanities, Political Science,  Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences. It is also an important research facility, organising its activities in 31 Departments in various scientific branches. Roma Tre is an urban university and its campuses are located throughout the city; they are all easily reachable by subway. The main campus is located in Piramide/Ostiense area in the central/southern part of the city. It also acquired the Palladium Theatre, located in the Garbatella area which was inaugurated in 2003 and hosts a qualified theatrical seasons. It offers its students many services, including sports facilities and a stadium.
The University of Rome "Foro Italico"
 
The University of Rome "Foro Italico" - the City's 4th State university - is the only Italian and one of the few European vocational universities entirely devoted to sport and exercise science. The University is the direct heir of the Italian Sport Academy, established in 1928, and it is located in the monumental area of Foro Italico in Rome, where are placed some of the City's most famous sport structures.
University facilities include: teaching facilities: 11 modern lecture halls, a computer centre, a language centre, a specialized library; sport facilities: 10 fully-equipped gyms, 2 swimming pools, a rowing centre on the River Tevere; research centres: more than 20 laboratories. The University also has its own Video Centre for the production of educational and non-professional materials, and conference halls for national and international congresses. The University ranks among Italy's topmost universities in terms of structures and teaching staff available per student, with 2000 students and 60 faculty members. It hosts one of the highest percentages of non-resident (about 30%) and foreign (over 6%) students.
